Little bit scared ....

that I am getting hooked again  ;-((
Not intentionally
Been reading about other things actually and there they were   :-(((((

oh did I forget to say what ;-))))))

absolutely beautiful quilts I see on some blogs

to name a few I have become hooked on recently

some learners, some very experienced ones

and all but one led me astray
cause I was reading about other things
and then they show quilting   :-(((((
they are conspiring against/for me  ;-)

I do so love hand-made quilts

Wish I had the time and space
But more importantly
THE SKILL!!!!!

Starting to crave one
Know the colours I want
Pretty open about the pattern
Looking can be so bad

And just found a book I picked up at Salamanca Markets in Hobart in April
Everything is conspiring against me

BTW, here is a small glimpse of those markets
and then at the very bottom of the photo you then walk up a small incline to the top and

COTM

Hi everyone or anyone  ;-)))

Forgot to show what I sent off for May's COTM (Charity of the Month)
This one is for the Footpath Library.
This charity may have started with books for the homeless, but as with most things, its requests have expanded when they see a need - yes, it is a baby's blanket

and I did manage to squeeze a beanie in as well

The Distant Hours

Hi everyone
I am so glad that my last post bought smiles to quite a few faces, like it did to mine.
Hope very much that your weekends continued that way

Do you remember this book that I mentioned a while ago

Well, I finally found some time to read
Yep, I actually put down my needles and hooks

And it was just what I needed
I am now hooked on Kate Morton's story-telling
This is the third book I have read of Kate's
They all contain -
a tiny bit of romance
a little history (mainly between the wars time period)
a little mystery
and just plain old-fashioned enjoyment of words
and the scenery's and people that she conjures up

When I read her books I feel a bit like I did when I was a child
Getting myself "lost" within the story-telling
Forgetting where I am and who is with me

Just in case your interested, the other two books of Kate's are

and

This book may also be titled "The House at Riverton"

Can't wait for more works by Kate Morton

Explains Everything

Hi everyone

I received an email recently, and yes it explains everything  :-)
And boy is it so very true ;-))

With time, women gain weight because we accumulate so much information and
wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out
to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured,

educated and happy.

Beginning today, when I look at my backside in the mirror I will think,
Good grief, look how smart I am!

Must be where 'Smart Arse' came from!

What's going on around here

Hi everyone

Well I want to make a gift for someone who needs a little bit of support at the moment
So since its cold, I thought scarf, so that when she wears it, hopefully it will feel like a hug - OK
Needs to be soft and squishy and wool - OK
Needs to be pink - her favourite colour and the colour of love - OOPS

I went stash-diving and I do not have ONE pink ball/yarn!!
Anyone would think I don't like the colour  :-)))))
Well, I don't wear it
But, I do love it on baby girls

So I just HAD to visit my LYS (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
Thank goodness it had stopped raining for half an hour to walk up there The rain has not stopped since Friday, and the last two days have been really heavy and very, very windy
Is it pink enough   ;-)

Just a sidenote on something I have been watching on Foxtel lately
It's called "Edwardian Farm" more info can be found here
Two males and a female spend twelve months living the life of Edwardian Farmers.
The episode I watched today was beautiful with a lot of time spent at Dartmore - so pretty, yet so wild.
I love the series for the time-warp back in history

I know there have been American/Canadian??? ones showing how it was everything was done back then.  There was also an Australian one (sorry, can't remember the title), but instead of using Australians they had families from overseas.  Knowing the little I do of our history, I found a few flaws in the Australian version, that were obviously put there for the story line rather than reality .
I love these type of shows learning about the old-fashioned ways of doing things and the "new-fangled" inventions as they come along

Bye for now

Call me

Call me Crazy
Call me Insane
Call me Stupid

What do you do on a lazy long weekend Sunday in Sydney
When it must be one of the coldest weeks in many, many years
When it is miserable, wet, windy

Well, of course, that's where my name calling comes from

I wanted to go to the Blue Mountains
An approximately 2-1/2 hour drive
Where it is a lot more colder
Visibility was low because of fog between Leura and Blackheath

I wanted to visit an Antiques Shop at Blackheath

This one
Nope - I didn't take my camera
It was that spur of the moment

Wandered for ages through here
But I can tell you it was definitely more crowded
Did the sideways dance most of the way around

And had a wonderful lunch here

Now have I had my fill of the cold and miserable

Nope
(start the name calling)
Especially those in the northern hemisphere

I am after snow cold

Writing

Hi everyone
I know!
I haven't been around much lately
But I have written the most wonderful posts in my head prior to going to sleep
But in the morning they sound
B-O-R-I-N-G
So I wrote nothing
So please don't expect much from this one

Much the same has been going on with my projects

If you remember my Queen Anne Lace Scarf from back here
Well I finally got to where it down in Tassie (not for warmth though)
And something felt not quite right
Love the pattern
Love the yarn
But still it bothered me
I was not happy with how the colours hid the lacy pattern

So I frogged it!
And turned it into this

Bias Lace Scarf, details here

Now I don't particularly like knitted scarves - they take a while to make
But I wanted to take time with this project and slow down a bit
And I am much happier with the colour flow this time

Did modify the pattern a little cause I was playing around with it - I really wanted some stocking stitch to show off the colours.  But as per usual it curled - and I hate that more
So I ended up with a 4 row pattern instead of 6 rows

The wool is wonderful!!
This is the third project it has been made into and it has held up really well
And this morning I wore it out for the first time
Wonderfully soft and warm

Forgot to mention the wool is Woolganic and was dyed by Evoke

This is not the only project frogged and reworked - more about that later

Confusion in thoughts and actions here   :-)
